Counselling

Experience, warmth and empathy in the counselling relationship can assist children, adolescents and families change thoughts and behaviours to overcome difficulties in their lives. Issues that can be addressed in this supportive and confidential environment include:

  •  School issues such as friendships, social skills and bullying.

  • Internet gaming / social media and 'screen time' problems.

  • Children’s fears including, separation anxiety, school refusal and general anxiety. We deliver the Macquarie University’s “Cool Kids” and “Chilled Adolescent” anxiety programs.

  • Advice about sleep disorders in children and adolescents.

  • Assistance with withdrawn or depressed behaviour.

  • Counselling for the management of behavioural difficulties can bring about valuable changes in angry, oppositional and defiant behaviour.

  • Grief and loss as a result of separation, divorce or bereavement.

  • Behavioural management of Autistic Spectrum Disorders or ADHD.

  • Accredited CBIT clinician for Tourette’s and Tic disorders.

  • Assistance coping with stress, help with time management, organisation and study skills.

These are only some of the issues that can be helped  through counselling .

  • Canine assisted therapy sessions are also available (weather permitting).
